Good things come to those who wait: Forward Sören Larsen signed a four year contract thru June 30, 2009, this Monday in the Squires’ head office.

In early June, the attention of a Schalke delegation of Manager Rudi Assauer, Team Manager Andreas Müller and Head Coach Ralf Rangnick was drawn to the 23-year-old during an international match between Denmark and Albania. "If he can pick up again where we left him in early June during the international match, we will have a lot of pleasure in him. Defying his size, he is very good in accelerating and may turn out to be a real weapon for us with his headers at high shots", explained Manager Rudi Assauer.

In Copenhagen’s Parken Stadion the offensive player scored twice for the hosts’ 3:1 victory in his second call for an international match. Since then, the Squires were striving for an engagement. After a weeklong tug-of-war with Djurgardens IF, an agreement with the Stockholm-based club was reached about the transfer at the end of last week.

"All this time I was hoping that the transfer will close, and I always had good feelings about it, too", said Larsen when reporting for duty at Schalke. "I absolutely wanted to go to Schalke, since in the last years the Club was in the focus of the Danish public because of my fellow citizens Ebbe Sand and Christian Poulsen." The left-footer with his 1.95 m size weighs in at 90 kilograms and will serve the Squires with jersey number nine.
